You will find that caring for your home is much easier if you have necessary tools and supplies on hand. As you review the maintenance information in this manual and in the manufacturer materials, make note of the materials and tools you may need.

List of basic homeowner maintenance tools and supplies needed to get off to the right start:

  • Claw hammer
  • Finish nails – #8, #10
  • Box nails – #6, #12, #16
  • Tape measure
  • Utility knife and extra blades
  • Screw drivers – At least two sizes each of flat and Phillips head
  • Pliers – regular and needle nose
  • Level – 2′ or 4′
  • CaulkCaulk gun
    • Tub & tile type (DAP or equal)
    • Clear silicone
    • Caulk to match tile grout
    • Concrete caulk
  • Gloves
  • Disposable and work gloves
  • Drywall compound -1 qt
  • Putty knives – 1″ to 2”, 3″to 4”, 5″ to 6” steel and plastic
  • Sandpaper – Medium (100) grit
  • Pail – 2 gallon
  • Sponges – Assorted
  • Hand brush
  • Paint supplies – 2 inch cut-in brush, various foam brushes, 4” roller w/ extra pads, 9” roller and roller tray, drop cloth, painter’s tape
  • Silicone grease – Spray can
  • Silicone spray
  • Push broom
  • Dust pan
  • Steel wool
  • Duct tape
  • Pointed shovel
  • Garden hose – Length as needed to water yard
  • Hose reel
  • 6′ step ladder
  • Extension ladder – Tall enough to reach 4’ over eves, or tall enough to be able to reach the light fixture in the two story foyer.
