Notes
Brick / stone selection information was provided in your Final Walk Through folder.
Brick and stone are some of the most durable and lowest maintenance finishes for a home’s exterior.
Homeowner Operation and Maintenance
Efflorescence – The white, powdery substance that sometimes accumulates on brick surfaces is called efflorescence. This is a natural phenomenon and cannot be prevented. In most cases, you can remove it by scrubbing with a stiff brush and vinegar. Consult a home center, hardware store or Paragon Supply for commercial products to remove efflorescence.
Tuck-Pointing – After several years, exterior face brick or stone may require tuck-pointing (repairing the mortar between the brick or stone). Otherwise, no regular maintenance is required.
Weep Holes – You may notice small holes in the mortar along the lower row of exterior bricks. These holes allow moisture that has accumulated behind the brick to escape. Do not fill these weep holes or permit landscaping materials to block them.
BUILDER Limited Warranty Guidelines
We check the brick / stone work during the final walk through to confirm correct installation of designated materials.
BUILDER will repair masonry cracks that are visible from 20 feet or exceed 1/4 inch, one time during the warranty period. Color matching of mortar is not possible.
